In order to accomplish its vision and implement its mission, the ASRC will
Conduct and facilitate research on basis of its extensive library and archival holdings of materials on political freedom, repression and the opposition in the post-Soviet region.
Inform and educate both the academic and the non-academic community about lessons learned from the past to better understand the present and its likely impact on, and implications for, the future.
Support actively those who encounter opposition from anti-democratic forces, victims of state repression and military conflict.
The Andrei Sakharov Research Center contributes to the development of a pluralist and democratic society in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
