David Kramer (USA)

David J. Kramer joined Florida International University’s Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs as a Senior Fellow in May 2017. Previously, Kramer was Senior Director for Human Rights and Democracy at the McCain Institute for International Leadership; President of Freedom House; and Senior Transatlantic Fellow with the German Marshall Fund. Kramer served during the George W. Bush administration as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. He also served as Executive Director of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. He is author of the recent book, Back to Containment: Dealing with Putin’s Regime.

The Andrei Sakharov Research Center contributes to the development of a pluralist and democratic society in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
