Anatomy of War : Ukraine

Vytautas the Great War Museum, October 6th - May 23rd

The extended exhibition of Ukrainian war artifacts "Anatomy of War: Ukraine" will open its doors at Vytautas the Great War Museum in Kaunas on 6th of October , 2023. The exhibition will display artifacts of protests and war in Ukraine - from Maidan protests in 2014, to the annexation of Crimea and military conflicts in Donetsk and Luhansk as well as the events that took place just a few months or weeks ago in Bucha, Bakhmut and other high-intensity war zones.

Exhibits include:

  • Parts of the Iranian-made autonomous drones „Shahed;“
  • Items brought back from Maidan and war epicenters by the well-known author Dovydas Pancerovas, including Ukrainian flags with the signatures of soldiers stationed in Maryinka, an information sheet with relevant information in the event of an emergency, and a 2006 edition propaganda booklet;
  • The never-before-seen draft of D. Pancerovas‘s book "Kiborgu zeme";
  • The helmet of a Russian soldier who was shot by a Ukrainian sniper;
  • The famous Vasylkyv Mayolica ceramic rooster, which has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance and perseverence;
  • GRAD rocket;
  • Military weapons, soldiers' tools and personal belongings brought back from the battlefield;
  • Road signs with bullet holes from Bucha;
  • Russian propaganda newspapers intended for Russian soldiers;
  • and many other exhibits directly from Ukraine.

The exhibition can be visited with a visitor‘s ticket for the Vytautas the Great War Museum until the 23rd of May. The exhibition will offer the opportunity to donate in support of Ukraine‘s humanitarian needs (cash, card, Paypal).  

ATTENTION: Please be informed that some of the exhibits may be shocking. The exhibition will display bloody items and belongings of dead Russian soldiers.
