The current exhibition “Anatomy of War: Ukraine” at Vytautas the Great War Museum is hosting a number of war artefacts as well as a painting by a Ukrainian artist Anton Pedos. On Saturday, 25th of November, from 14:00 to 15:30, the artist will invite the public to discuss war and art in his lecture “Art in Times of War: Meeting with Ukrainian Artist Anton Pedos.“
Antonas Pedos has lived in Lithuania for almost four years. He graduated with a Master‘s degree from the Vilnius Academy of Arts and has learned Lithuanian. Before arriving to Lithuania, Anton studied Ceramics at Lviv National Art Academy.
The representatives of Russia who negotiated the treaty are in many ways different than those who now rule Russia. The question arises whether good- neighborly relations on an equal footing and mutual respect are possible, even when a regime change would occur in Russia. What are the preconditions for such a normalization, and what steps can Lithuania take to prepare the grounds for the moment when the opportunity arises.
„In the lecture, I will speak about the preconditions to the current war between Russia and Ukraine, and will use my works of art as illustrations to it. I will also speak about a post-war society and the challenges which will arise after the war,“ the artist shares. Anton Pedos will also discuss collective trauma and art as a form of therapy.
