Dr. Michael Rohschürmann, M.A., is a seasoned expert in civil security and Islamic studies, with over two decades of experience in both civilian and military roles. Most recently, he led Germany's Assisted Departure Program for Afghan local staff and vulnerable persons. He has held key positions in crisis regions, including serving as Director of Civil Security and Risk Management in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Alongside his governmental work, Michael has maintained an academic career, lecturing on modern Islam at several German universities and contributing as a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University (ISPK). With academic credentials in political science, Islamic studies, and ethnology, he also holds a PhD focused on Islamic terrorism. A Commander in the German Navy Reserve, Michael combines strategic leadership with deep subject-matter expertise across defense, policy, and academia.
