
Dr. Gabija Grigaite–Daugirde serves as Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, a role she assumed in late 2024. She oversees key units within the Ministry, including the Sanctions Group, International Law Group, and the UN Department.
Previously, she was Vice-Minister at the Ministry of Justice, responsible for the application of international and EU law in public policy and for representing Lithuania’s position in international legal forums. Her career began as a legal advisor in the National Parliament, followed by six years as Legal Advisor to the President of Lithuania, Dalia GrybauskaitÄ—, ensuring legislative processes complied with national, international, and EU law.
Dr. Grigaite–Daugirde holds a PhD in International Law from Vilnius University, where her research focused on the legality of the use of force for humanitarian purposes. She also studied at Ghent University (Belgium) and earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vilnius University in international finance.
For more than 15 years, she has lectured on international law, humanitarian law, and criminal law at Vilnius University and other academic institutions, and has coached teams for international moot court competitions. In 2019, she was admitted to the Bar Association of the Republic of Lithuania.
