Vlada Baranova graduated from St. Petersburg State University, and European University at St. Petersburg (sociolinguistics), PhD in anthropology.  She worked as an Associate Professor at the High School of Economics Campus in St. Petersburg and resigned in 2022. Her research interests are in the fields of multilingualism, language revitalization, and language documentation. She is a visiting scholar in Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (spring 2023) and in Nordost – Institut- IKGN an der Universität Hamburg (fall 2023).
